Zack grew up in Friendswood, just south of Houston, TX. In his younger years he was incredibly passionate about sports, playing lacrosse and soccer, and spending time in the outdoors. After high school, he shifted his focus towards one of his other passions, numbers. He went on to attend the University of Texas at San Antonio where he obtained his BBA in Accounting and his Master’s in Accountancy.
When he finished his education at UTSA, Zack worked at a national firm, BKD, as part of the tax staff for a little over two years before meeting Michael and deciding to come join his growing firm back in 2015. For Zack, it was a pivotal point in his career, finding his new “work home.” He was able to quickly wrap up the CPA exam, and he started learning from some stellar professionals who treated him as part of the family. Over the years, he’s fine tuned his craft, becoming the leader of SPR’s tax department. His primary areas of focus include oil & gas clients, real estate clients, and high net worth families. He’s become a go to in office for estate planning, wealth transfer, and income tax planning techniques. In 2023, he became SPR’s fourth partner, and the first from UTSA here in San Antonio!
When Zack is not at the he loves being outdoors as much as possible with his family . His loving wife Michaela, and their two children, Braxton and Klara, set out each summer for a few weeks to experience a new location and to escape the Texas heat! The past few summers they’ve enjoyed hiking in Leavenworth, WA; living it up in the beach in Coronado, CA; and exploring all that the Colorado Rockies have to offer. Here in town, they enjoy hiking, going to the botanical garden, finding the nearest swimming hole, or seeking out new restaurants. Zack still has a passion for sports, watching his beloved Pittsburgh Steelers or the Houston Astros, but he also consistently practices yoga and hopes to become a registered yoga teacher.
His favorite thing about working at SPR is that each employee has a voice and that the leaders have always focused on helping each individual grow personally and professionally. This commitment towards the employees has led to a cohesion as one big family that extends the doors of SPR, on to their families. It is what makes SPR the best place to work. We are so grateful that Zack is one of the leaders of our family!
